The Basics of Using the Internet


Description

Description This 4-hour hands-on course is designed to train people with minimal computer skills how to use the Internet as a tool in seeking employment and career opportunities. The basic course covers the beginns level of computing skills: basic computing tasks such as file management, the Windows environment, device control as well as browser navigation using Netscape. Students will learn these techniques within the context of job hunting, researching career opportunities and making professional contacts online.

Objectives

People taking this course will:
  • Have the ability to use search tools to implement effective and timely Internet employment-related research.
  • Integrate and utilize a variety of Internet and programming language terms commonly used in this field.
  • Demonstrate an ability to locate job-related resources using the Website.
  • Gain the basic skills of computer device control and navigation.
  • Be able to utilize e-mail communications
